If you are a music fan you could be in for a treat by visiting Bute during the annual Jazz Festival. The festival is now in it’s 27th year and regularly attracts Jazz & Blues fans to the island in their droves. The weekend kicks of the season for many tourism businesses and as the weather is quite often brilliant you get to experience town at it’s best.
Don’t miss the Saturday Jazz Parade. This informal musical & brollie march through the town led by the indomitable Jenny Brown attracts hundreds of onlookers and culminates in a jam session at the Esplanade Fountain where the colourful brollies are judged and the winner crowned. On the Sunday go to the Jazz Picnic at Rothesay Castle. Take a hamper and some beers or wine and relax to the strains of open air Jazz. It’s great fun for all the family and there’s plenty of room for kids to run around safely.
