For a number of years Calmac, our ferry route company, have offered ferry tickets for multiple routes. By this I mean that you can buy one ticket to cover 2-3 ferry journeys. The tickets are valid for 31 days from the date of purchase and can be used in either direction on your chosen route. They are known as Hopscotch tickets and with them you can plan interesting routes through Argyll using Bute as the first (or last) port of call. The 2 hopscotch routes that include Bute also make the cost of the ferry less of a factor because they are cheaper than buying the tickets separately.
Hopscotch Route 3 (see the image above) brings you on to and off Bute via Rothesay and Rhubodach. Hopscotch 4 takes this a step further and adds the Portavadie – Tarbet route for access to the Mull of Kintyre.
So, if you are planning an Argyll and the Isles tour this summer these routes are a great time and money saver…..
