As you enjoy a stroll around the beautiful gardens at Mount Stuart, you will come across this curious structure; the Beehive Well.
In the 18th century, this freshwater spring inside this Beehive once served a now-vanished little hamlet called Scoulag which was situated around the shore area where you can now find the recently restored Shore Chapel.
The local red sandstone Beehive structure wasn’t built over the well until the 19th century.
Do you have any pictures of you at the Beehive? We’d love it if you could share them with us!
