With its views over the harbour, the Kettledrum Café on East Princes Street has been a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike for years.
Now customers get a large helping of Australian warmth and hospitality when they pop in, in the form of the new owner, Marion Cartwright. This spacious corner cafe has a comprehensive breakfast/lunch menu that has something for everyone – families, friends meeting for coffee and worn-out cyclists. They are all accommodated with ease. Their printed menu is supported by a selection of regularly updated Daily Specials and Marion and her team have sought out Fair Trade tea and coffee as well as sourcing as many of their ingredients as possible from local food producers too.
The emphasis here is on good quality home-made dishes at a reasonable price – soups, burgers, milk shakes, ciabattas, toasted sandwiches, fish and chips, ice creams etc. There are vegetarian options readily available. The Kettledrum also has outside seating – ideal for four-legged customers and THE perfect spot if you fancy a proper barista coffee, succulent strawberry tart or their renowned cream-tea. Not got time to sit down? That’s no problem either, the Kettledrum offers a take-out service. Why not Pop in when you get off the ferry?
