Ardencraig Gardens

Recently voted 'The Best Hidden Gem' Location in Scotland by one of the largest tour operators, Ardencraig Gardens originally formed part of the larger layout designed by Percy Cane for the owners of Ardencraig House. The walled garden was acquired by Rothesay Town council in 1970, and latterly by Argyll and Bute Council, and has been developed to create a propagation, education and show garden. Extensive bedding and fuchsia displays contain some of the best cultivars available. When in bloom, the bedding designs are spectacular! A wander through the glasshouses and relax on the proffered outside benches, where you can have a flask of tea and marvel at the true talent of the Bute gardeners. There are also a number of aviaries housing a range of foreign bird species have been built to create further interest.
